Oh I’m very excited! Is it raining heavily? I didn’t bring a coat. You’re standing under a roof, right? Or do you need an umbrella on stage? Now we wait. I haven’t been to Paris for three years but now I’m at Lollapalooza here, I’m excited.
And it stopped raining, I’m very happy. It’s cool about the fireworks today is from
our own rider, so we programmed it, Gabe f*cking beast, like it’s not just a
random fireworks going up. It’s like all in sync with with High On Life. I think Louis has taking my favorite picture
of all time, how can you even do this? Louis: I was on the side with the production manager and he does all the special effects, and he was like this. And boom, this happend. Martijn: It’s nice that we always
park next to the main stage. Good morning. I like busses, it’s just you park at the
festival 9:00 in the morning and then there are sound checking. Will be fine. This is the forth day on tour. I’m great, I’m happy, excited I feel good. My left leg is not in pain and my right leg is okay.
It’s actually less swollen today than yesterday which is a good thing. So kind of funny, on my first day back walking again with my bare feet I step in a
piece of glass with my good feet. I just love laugh, shit happens. My body is testing me. Or someone is testing me and my body. Oskar: I started playing guitar when I was like
ten years old and my mom works with she’s a pianist and like a she sings in
the choir, so I just grew up with music. We always had like a piano at home, so I
always could try out even though I never went to any piano lessons or anything I
just tried out everything myself. And then my brother showed me FL Studio, like what
every bedroom producer uses and then and then then I got here.
So I got to know Oskar, it was funny story My team… they we usually get a strike whenever like
there’s a remix of a reupload from any of my songs and I just released So Far Away with David Guetta, so my team they got this strike on SoundCloud like
“Hey, this remix popped up online.”. But instead of taking it down they
listen to it and I’m like whoah this is f*cking crazy, so they send it to me
and we decided to release a song on STMPD as an official remix.
Oskar: From my side, I just saw you uploaded like tomorrow my new song So Far Away is coming out and you uploaded like a preview so I was like this is my chance and I downloaded
the preview so I heard like I had like the whole chord progression and
everything, just made a drop around that and then you release the song. I just
drag in the new like the original and then I just put my drop
added some stuff to the verse and then uploaded it like the same day you did
Martijn: It was so quick like the whole teams was like: “How’s this possible?” and then I send you
the real stems so you could… Oskar: So I could fix it properly. But it was just crazy because I just did it. I just came home from school Just like, yeah why not just make a remix for fun and then like I never thought that you would actually reach out.
Martijn: So sick! That’s how it started and then just kept in touch sending music back and forth, it’s like f*ck, this guy’s crazy. He should come to Amsterdam and he came to Amsterdam and we became homies and now we have sick music coming out. That’s the story.
Oskar: This is maybe half a year after Ibiza and I was opening for Martin, I brought all my friends we were like with 10 buddies there and he played my remix at the show and me and all my friends were in the crowd and they were like “Oh it’s your remix Oskar!” and they lift me up like Martijn: I saw them! Suddenly I play Oskar’s remix and I see Oskar flying in the air because his friends are are lifting him up, that was a great moment. Louis: 50% of all the roof pyro,
there’s also pyro on stage for the finale. Gabe: You don’t realize like how much I feed
off him and if he wasn’t there and his energy wasn’t there I kind of wouldn’t
have anything to feed off. If I take cues from him you know and it’s like that’s a
big part of it is, his and my dynamic and I mean he’s such an integral part of it,
because at the end of the day the entire team is built around to his energy, but
it’s an interesting dynamic working with him and understanding that the creative
behind it is for the most part he gives us kind of a blank slate. But then once
you put the layer down, he’s got a lot to say. Most nights when we do well, he’s like:
“Oh yeah that was amazing!” and then we’ll watch videos then he’ll be like:
“Oh I didn’t like this, I didn’t like that.”. Like yeah cool, but then there’s also you
know the interesting idea of the fact Martijn has never been to a Martin
Garrix show. He’ll never go to one. He’s on stage, he will never see or an
experienced a Martin Garrix show as a crowd. Like as an audience member. He’s always the performer which is a whole different dynamic. Martijn: Going to try the first show back on my two feet.
Louis: Whoa, that’s a milestone! Martijn: Bye motherf*cker! I don’t think they’ll be any problems and if
there will be to be painful but it won’t be the end of the world you know. So sick, first show back to two legs! Let’s go! Louis: To the great recovery! Martijn: Let’s go! Tourbus life, it’s nice but I would only do it if we don’t park
next to the venue’s main stage. So I can actually can get some sleep. Louis: I burned my sensor again. For the fifth time I think.
Martijn: Shooting pictures like this. Louis: This is nice. And then… Boom! Broken. Damian photobombing the money shot and then we I took him out. Damian: Very disappointed.
I’m going to comment I think. Martijn: Last few days were great,
Tomorrowland was crazy like all the STMPD artists played there. The show
itself was crazy… Just yeah, this really was another big step for STMPD RCRDS
and I’m really really proud of everybody in the team and we did a Lollapalooza
Paris, which was mind-blowing and then the second show in France last night, it
was magical. It was so so sick and it was the first show that I got to use my foot
again, you know. Because the other shows we’ve been doing it with the knee thing
and then right before the show yeah I know it felt good and then I asked if it will be okay. They were like “If feels good, you could try it.”.
And we did it. It went amazing, really really happy.
And now Maejor is here and we have Oskar here, Osrin, and tomorrow Matisse & Sadko are gonna come. So we’re gonna have an
amazing super fun week.
