Check Your Rental Car – Travel Pro Tip #26

You just finished filling out all the
paperwork for your rental car and you can’t wait to get going but there’s one
thing you need to do first you need to inspect the vehicle any changes in the
vehicle’s condition is likely to be your responsibility and so what you’re gonna
want to do is document the vehicle’s condition before you drive it off the
lot we recommend taking your cell phone and filming a quick video where you walk
all 360 degrees around the vehicle and take a note of any particular damage
that might be there quickly zoom in so you can document and record any existing
damages or imperfections in the vehicle before you take possession of the
vehicle different insurance packages will vary from company to company and
also depending on what options you select but you’re gonna want to protect
yourself by having a quick little video that very clearly proves the condition
of the vehicle before you left the lot in case there’s any question when you
return it about whether or not any damage was previously existing or
something that happened while it was under your care this doesn’t have to
take long it’s just a quick little walk around the car with the camera and
pointing out anything that looks like it might be damaged zooming in and quickly
showing the camera what that would be vacation Impossible’s never had a problem
returning a vehicle we’ve never been charged for damage but we have heard
many stories about people who have been charged for damage that may or may not
have been their fault so this quick little one or two minutes filming the
outside of the vehicle in a quick 360 degrees will protect you and also give
you peace of mind it’s nice to have the peace of mind of having a recording of
the original state of the vehicle in case the company tries to charge you for
something that wasn’t your responsibility it’s only a minute or two
before you leave but then when you leave you can be more relaxed knowing that
you’ve got that covered
