to fight alone try unlike many of the commanders I’ve looked at cigar de host of herons is a powerful creature that doesn’t necessarily scream any particular strategy as a commander well the new cigar de herons grace clearly wants you to play human tribal the original cigar de is much more open-ended as a bipod flyer for two of anything one green and two white she’s extremely efficient albeit with a strict color requirement she is also hex proof and she has the unique ability that protects you from being forced to sacrifice permanence a surprising amount of being evil things people do in commander involve making you sacrifice things does Moran of Clan Nell toss have a grave pact and is destroying her own creatures you can lap it off wave of betrayal it’ll pass right over you did someone drop a smokestack if you’ve somehow gotten cigar de out onto the battlefield already then they’ve made a critical error because she’s hex proof no one can target her with a regular targeted removable spell so there’s no getting her out of their way the sheer resilience of cigar de along with her beefy staff led me towards the voltron bill focusing on auras we plan to win the game by dishing out 21 commander damage to each opponent with an unstoppable cigar too backed by a stack of enchantment the inherent downside of auras is that if the creature dies the aura follows it to the graveyard and you end up with nothing cigar des has a reasonable chance of sticking around long enough to load her up with protective auras that make her near invulnerable the immunity to sacrifice is what makes me excited about cigar des as a whole commander over alternatives like your real the miss stalker or a peak of the many they give you more colors than a clear-cut way to make them bigger but when you only have the one creature being forced to sacrifice it ruins your day cigar des will be slower than the alternative but she opens the door to do a more controlling and ultimately overwhelming Voltron approach Green White has a ton of amazing auras that don’t see the light of day much because of their fragility and in this deck you get to play them all there have also been enough enchantments energy cards over the years to add a lot of power to the deck and enchantress and magic is a creature that lets you draw a card when you play an enchantment or Goffe an enchantress mesa enchantress ver durian enchantress cor spirit dancer I don’t want to blossom and Enchantress’s presence have been printed over the years these are what will keep you from running out of gas they’re not scary enough to draw out removal but getting one out early will keep your hand size full as you execute the rest of your game plan ramp is essential for getting our five man a commander out and loaded up with enchantments ASAP before your opponents have answers with green we have all the standard ramp options cultivate and cadeaux m’as reach being the standouts especially with a 5 mana commander but since we’ve got enchantment synergies in play and chanting lands becomes enticing fertile ground wild growth weirding woods utopia sprawl these all give you more mana while upping your enchantment count note that enchanted lands are a lot more fragile than just having lots of land so your mileage may vary but when it works it’s very nice burgeoning and exploration let you dump the lands you have onto the field faster bare Umbra and murari’s wakes both double your mana which always gets explosive bare Umbra in particular let’s you enchant cigar de ataque untap your lands immediately to drop more auras which feels great when you pull it off this effect is so powerful that it’s worth running short of feast and famine if you have it even though it’s off theme but I’d rather win wouldn’t you once you’ve played cigar des the first priority is to make her indestructible preferably redundantly there are lots of wrath of God accent commander and cigar disabilities offer no protection against that indestructibility shield of the Oversoul and shielded by faith will do the trick but that’s it for enchantment protecting cigar des from wrath is important enough that it’s worth going against theme for bastion protector and dark steel plate but we can’t stop there she needs more key word vigilance means you can keep cigar de up as a blocker and lifelink lets you effectively counteract any damage your opponents are doing to you trample and protection from creatures helps you get damaged past any pesky blockers perfect for when flying isn’t enough double stripe doubles your damage simple as that green and white offer plenty of options here from unflinching courage to armadillo cloak rancor and so on but daybreak coronet is a standout the restriction that you have to enchant a creature that’s already enchanted is not going to be a problem here and protip use the modern masters artwork because it depicts a cat wearing a scarf I don’t even need to explain how that is more powerful than the original ideally we want to be one shotting opponents to have a chance at closing the game out which means 21 commander damage this means we’ll need to get cigar to bigger so we’ll pump her based on our enchantment count with ancestral mask sages reverie I don’t want of countless battles and if you’re going to throw in equipment helm of the god with even one of these plus double strike you should have no trouble dishing out damage if you’re willing to mess with the lure Eldrazi conscription is the ultimate big enchantment let’s cigar to join her angelic sisters as an Eldrazi horror stomping all over the plane when this deck goes off you’ll have a giant indestructible life length vigilant unblockable cigar des on the field and then you can sit back and kill your opponents one at a time focusing on whoever looks likely to come up with an answer – cigar des or fire off an infinite combo when after you’ve done this once your play group isn’t going to let you do it a second time quite so easily so how are you going to protect yourself if you guessed with enchantments you’re right authority of the consoles and blind obedience slow your opponents down while gaining you some incremental life sphere of safety should make it Stickley impossible for anyone to attack you given the number of enchantments you control and ghostly prison does a reasonable impression of this dueling grounds will stop you from getting swarmed and let’s cigar to block anything they throw at you oblivion rein grasp of fate and similar let you deal with any pesky permanence getting in your way flicker form is a weird one letting you temporarily exile cigar that enter enchantment stack and get it all back you’ll never want to draw it early but when you’re in your late game you should have plenty of mana sitting around and this is one of the few ways to dodge a bane of progress or a perilous vault or an overloaded cyclonic rift or any other effect that can that cigar does aid is worth mentioning as well since it lets you play most of your deck at instant speed which is always amazing the lands on this deck are going to very closely follow the two color description below but there’s a couple distinct land choices for this deck I want to mention homeward path is a counter for insurrection and you may want to run wasteland and it’s built to deal with any arcane lighthouses anyone gets cheeky with full Tron builds aren’t for everyone but it can be nice to have a simple plan sometimes what I really like about cigar dies of Ultron commander is to focus on enchantments instead of the typical artifacts artifact destruction is much more common in commander than enchantment destruction and when combined with cigar does natural abilities we present
