Retromobile 2020 – Part 2/2

Retromobile 2020 – Part 2/2

For Le Mans Classic we always try to bring something new at each edition. so I don’t know if I’m going to give you all of details today because there’s still few things that aren’t totally fixed but first of all, we will start on thursday you have to remember that in 2002 we did Le Mans Classic Saturday, Sunday, and then I’m not sure in which year we started to spend it to Friday afternoon, then Friday morning and now Thursday afternoon Actually the racetrack won’t be open, so there won’t be a race but the cars will be in the paddock, there will have the technical checks, and I know that the public particularly like to be able to attend this moment when the cars, the drivers can discover engines, discuss about it etc. Endurance Legend as the Series will be a new competition, so it will be a championship with Classic Cars from 1994 to 2005 for the prototypes and to 2010 for the gt I am quite sure that will have a full “plateau” with 70 cars and it’s very important because this attaract the young audience because it’s by introducing them to these cars that little by little they’ll become interested in the “plateau” 1 2 3 4 5 6 that begin from 1923 to 1983 if I am not wrong, and we have to introduce them to the Classic Cars This year we have chosen to honor Henri Pescarolo who is a legend at le Mans who as a driver and as a team manager participated at almost half of the 24 Hours races. obviously every two years there’s Le Mans Classic that’s the place where the heritage of the ACO is also widely highlighting it’s like a real living museum during three days we can see all the cars that made us dream. and then there’s also at the 24 Hours of Le Mans we have the Hall of Fame where we’re celebrating the pilots who mades its mark on Le Mans history so the heritage is extremely important and I believe that we can be modern or avant-garde without history without the past We are wery happy to celebrate the centenary of Mazda at Le Mans Classic because at Le Mans Classic, there is a lot of beautiful cars lover’s and today Mazda is doing beautiful cars, so its logical to particpiate at this event Moreover, we have a particular history with Le Mans, because Mazda won in 1991, and we stayed 30 years the only japanese brand triumphant at Le Mans, so in the heart of the Japanese in the heart of our company and in the heart of a lot of people I believe Well Mazda has a special history in Le Mans with this winning car called the 787B So for Le Mans Classic obviously behind me we can see a car XJ220 Jaguar C, which was drived by Paul Belmondo This one is not finish yet, but his sister, by the way there are 3 siblings and one won her category before, the GT Category so it’s an extremely rare high-performance car This one cost around 900 and 1.2 million I think it’s a good price for this wonderfull car and to our applause the Jaguar. XJ220 C Le Mans from 1993 The best memories at Le Mans, I can say there are a lot, it’s the fifth participation I think the general atmosphere of being at Le Mans is something magical. the cars, of course, we presented a lot of them, and I remember one in particular we made a world records with the Mercedes 300 SL Roadster from 1963, we sold it at 3.4 millions 2 years ago We have a lot of excitement about this kind of car, and we planned to show a Peugeot 905 that is for me a legend at Le Mans And I think bout this general atmosphere, selling cars with the noise of the engines which are doing a demonstration on the racetrack it’s a part of this great atmosphere that makes the hearts of all spectators and passionates beat faster.
